CHIMERE chemistry-transport model [IPSL/LMD]

The CHIMERE chemistry-transport multi-scale model is primarily designed to produce daily forecasts of ozone, aerosols and other pollutants and make long-term simulations (entire seasons or years) for emission control scenarios. CHIMERE runs over a range of spatial scale from the regional scale (several thousand kilometers) to the urban scale (100-200 Km) with resolutions from 1-2 Km to 100 Km. On this server, documentation and source codes are proposed for the complete multi-scale model. CHIMERE proposes many different options for simulations which also makes it a powerful research tool for testing parameterizations and hypotheses. CHIMERE is a parallel model that has been tested on machines ranging from desktop PCs running the GNU/Linux operating system, to massively parallel supercomputers (HPCD at ECMWF). A minimal set of 1 Gb RAM is necessary. Software required is a Fortran 90 compiler (ex: g95, ifort, pgf90 or xlf), some GNU utilities (gmake and gawk) and an MPI library. Graphical interfaces are available using the GrADS or GMT free wares.

The Input Databases of CCMMMA/CHIMERE

The implementation of CHIMERE model by CCMMMA coupled to WRF data from CCMMMA/WRF output. We can identify tree domains such as Europe, Italy and Campania respectively at 27, 9 and 3 kilometers of mesh resolution. Thus, we can obtain data and the visualization of the output of CHIMERE at the same resolution. For the emission data we initialize CHIMERE with EMEP's dataset interpolated over the Europe, Italy and Campania domains. The EMEP retrive and distribute the observation data obtained from the network of stations dedicated to monitoring the distribution and transport of aerosol and chemical pollution species.
